Bernie Fuchs (1932-) is an American born artist who first achieved acclaim for his popular illustrations for the automotive industry in the early 50s.After achieving a high level of success in Detroit with his commercial studio called The Art Group, Fuchs headed to the east coast where he began to create illustrations for top magazines, including Sports Illustrated.
Fuchs is number three on the list for having the most illustrations appear on the Cover of Sports Illustrated with 10. Fuchs was selected as the Sports Artist of the Year in 1991 By the American Sports Art Museum.
Although his sports artwork is exceptional, Fuchs' art career has been incredibly successful and diverse outside of sports, including portrait work of US Presidents, a commission of US postage stamps and being the youngest artist ever elected to the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.
